Dr. Ali R. Abedini, P.Eng.
President
Dr. Abedini is a renowned Landfill Gas expert with two decades of experience in landfill engineering and solid waste management sector. Renowned for his expertise, Dr. Abedini serves as a faculty member at SWANA BC and actively contributes as a technical member to the International Waste Working Group (IWWG).
As part of his advisory roles, Dr. Abedini collaborates with Environment Canada and Climate Change (ECCC) and offers his expertise to the World Bank Group as a technical consultant for solid waste management projects in more than 20 developing countries.
Dr. Abedini’s expertise extends to specialized areas within Landfill Gas engineering, from methane emission quantification to landfill gas management system design, operation, and troubleshooting. He is credited for developing the precision-focused UBC Integrated Landfill Gas Generation Model, UBCiModel©, and has pioneered the Surface Scan Fugitive Emission Quantification Technique (SSEQT) – a patented innovation in both Canada and the USA.
Carly Wolfe, P.Eng.

Ms. Wolfe is an experienced project manager and solid waste engineer with over 7 years of managing and designing projects of varying complexity for public-sector and private-sector clients. One of Ms. Wolfe’s strengths lies in her adeptness in managing and designing landfill projects. She has successfully overseen the development of landfill sites, including transfer stations, landfill gas collection systems, leachate management systems, and stormwater management systems, ensuring their compliance with regulations, environmental sustainability, and safety measures.
Beyond her project-specific achievements, Ms. Wolfe is regarded for her solid waste management planning expertise. Her attention to detail and comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks have enabled her to develop solid waste management plans that are not only compliant but also forward-thinking, addressing the evolving challenges of the industry.

Dr. Edwin Safari, Ph.D, P.Eng.

Dr. Edwin Safari is a licensed Professional Engineer with over 25 years of experience in geo-environmental engineering and landfill gas management. He specializes in strategic waste management planning, landfill design, and biocover system solutions for mitigating methane emissions. Dr. Safari has contributed to a variety of international waste management projects, offering expertise in LFG capture and control, leachate treatment, and environmental impact assessments. He has served as a technical advisor to leading organizations and development agencies, focusing on sustainable approaches to complex environmental challenges.
Edwin acts as a technical senior advisor on select projects for Methane Expert Engineering Ltd.
Alireza Bananmah,
Senior Mechanical & Instrumentation Specialist
Alireza Bananmah brings an incredible 21 years of experience as a mechanical engineer and marine engineer to our team. With an educational background that includes a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tehran, Iran, in 2001, and a Diploma in Electro Technique and Electronics in 1995, Alireza combines academic rigor with practical expertise. Holding a Transport Canada First-Class Marine Mechanical Engineer certification and an ISM, MLC & ISPS Internal Auditor Certificate of Professional Competency, he has distinguished himself as a certified expert in both marine engineering and compliance auditing. In his role at MethaneXE, Alireza serves as our in-house technical expert in mechanical and instrumentation operation and maintenance. His rich experience extends to the installation, operation, and maintenance of gas flare systems. Detail-oriented and a natural troubleshooter, Alireza excels in system diagnostics, swiftly identifying and resolving technical issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. As a veteran mechanical engineer and marine engineer, Alireza embodies engineering and operational excellence, setting the highest standards for quality and safety in all our endeavors.
Majid Kharazi, M.Sc., E.I.T.

Majid Kharazi is an invaluable asset to our team, bringing an extensive background in solid waste management (SWM). Educated at the University of Nottingham (UK), Majid holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering, as well as an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering. This academic foundation has made him highly effective in his dual roles as a Senior Data Analyst and Technical Assistant at MethaneXE.
Majid’s responsibilities are diverse but interconnected, ranging from data compilation and analysis, LFG generation modeling to regulatory compliance review and permit applications. His data analytics skills are not confined to mere number crunching; they extend to transforming raw data into actionable insights that guide our strategic decisions. As an expert in regulatory frameworks, Majid takes the lead in ensuring our projects comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations. His duties also include managing the permit application processes, making certain that our operations proceed without regulatory hitches. Beyond these, Majid oversees Intellectual Properties and Information Technologies related to our operations, adding another layer of technical depth to our team. Majid’s multifaceted role exemplifies the versatility and expertise that are the hallmarks of our team, continually propelling us toward a more efficient and sustainable future.

Pedram Shaygan serves as the Technical Lead for LFG Field Services at MethaneXE, where he is highly regarded for his expertise in methane leak detection and GHG emission quantification from landfills. With a sharp attention to detail and a rigorous approach to data accuracy, Pedram is instrumental in executing complex field projects aimed at reducing environmental impact. His deep technical knowledge, combined with hands-on experience, makes him a key contributor to MethaneXE’s mission of advancing sustainable landfill gas management and emission mitigation strategies

Hamideh brings expertise and meticulous attention to detail as our Certified Accountant. With experience dating back to 2010, Hamideh has been a cornerstone in the management and integrity of our financial systems. Holding certifications in accounting, she takes charge of a wide array of financial responsibilities that are critical to the smooth operation of our business. At MethaneXE, Hamideh manages both accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring that the company maintains a healthy cash flow and meets all its financial obligations. Her role extends to the meticulous recording of all financial events and the preparation of journal entries, providing a solid base for financial planning and decision-making. Additionally, she collaborates seamlessly with our outsourced accounting firm for the annual filing and financial reporting, serving as a key liaison between internal operations and external financial services.
